WITH two special events falling on the same week, has deciding where to celebrate Chinese New Year, and Valentine’s Day become a dilemma? Well, stop right there, and don’t make it a problem! Compiling some of the best Chinese restaurants in Cebu, and a list of great places to dine in for V-Day, whether it be lunch or dinner with loved ones, family, friends, or colleagues, choosing where to spend these special days becomes a breeze with the following choices:
Celebrating Chinese New Year at the magnificent gastronomical Tsay Cheng restaurant should be high on the list with Tsay Cheng ready to serve their three signature dishes for this coming Chinese New Year celebration. Recommended dishes? Peking duck served in three different ways (a hot soup, minced with lettuce, and the crispy duck skin wrapped up and laden with hoisin sauce), their delectable steamed salmon fish, and their Taiwanese Patatim with fried bread. But don’t let the culinary journey end there. Dish upon dish is served at Tsay Cheng. Spending Chinese New Year with Tsay Cheng will surely be a memorable affair.
Another restaurant to consider for this Chinese New Year is Waterfront Cebu’s Tin Gow. At Tin Gow, they take dish selections seriously and with their wide array of choices, you can’t go wrong dining there. Offering the traditional Yee Sang as their highlight dish, the different ingredients that one tosses into the salad have different symbols and meaning. Best selling dishes that one is recommended to get are the Braised Pork Belly, a dish that exudes tender and savory meat with excellent taste, and the Malaysian Style Deep Fried Chicken, known for its crunchiness, tastiness and juiciness, a dish that will leave no regrets.
With a view that will set the mood for the evening, celebrating Valentine’s Day at Crimson Resort & Spa Mactan’s Azure will be a special one with Azure preparing a four-course set menu for lovers to enjoy. Modern Asian cuisine takes center stage with the meal starting off with the Azure Garden salad, followed by a wood oven roasted angus beef tenderloin, and Chef Godfrey’s Umakase, finishing off with a wood oven baked apple tarte tatin. Delish!
Have your Valentine’s weekend at the original Pino restaurant. Located at Wilson St., Lahug, Cebu City, Pino brings you a two day Valentine’s special. Experience a pre-Valentine dinner on Feb. 13 and enjoy additional delectable dishes. One will surely love their lunch treat on Valentine’s Day with a mega Pino buffet with additional items like whole baked fish, calamares and gambas at seafood station. Its Valentine’s dinner will feature roast turkey, Cebu’s famous lechon, as well as gambas and calamari stations.
Satisfy one’s sweet tooth with Dessert Factory’s special mini red velvet cakes, the mini red velvet pot, and mini red velvet basket. Come and dine at this restaurant this love season with its special Valentine’s Day set menus such as the Kinamatisang Kawali, Grilled Pork Belly, Grilled Pork Chop and Factory Fried Chicken sets. Each of the sets includes bottomless Nestea or a can of soft drinks or bottled water with one slice of cake or ice cream cake. With their many branches located at Ayala Center Cebu, Salinas Lahug, F. Ramos St., and Parkmall, Dessert Factory is a must.
